We are looking for an exceptional Head of Protocol to join Metaversal to work on Medallion, our innovative project that validates achievements using tamper-proof technology and ongoing incentives. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the Medallion Protocol, which defines the actors in our system, the data format, and the communication rules for issuing, sharing, and verifying digital credentials. You will work closely with the product development and engineering team to refine and expand the protocol's capabilities.

As the Head of Protocol, you will be at the forefront of innovation, bridging the gap between technological advancement and human motivation. You will be responsible for overseeing the Medallion Protocol, ensuring it remains robust, scalable, and aligned with our mission of revolutionizing achievements. Your work will directly impact how educational institutions, sports teams, leagues, and other organizations recognize and incentivize achievements.

In this role, you will be challenged to create flexible, secure systems that can adapt to diverse Medallion client needs while maintaining the integrity of achievement validation. Your expertise will be crucial in developing the underlying architecture that allows Medallion to transform the way achievements are recognized both big and small, ultimately driving engagement and retention for both Medallion issuers and holders.

• Protocol Development and Maintenance: Lead the design, development, and ongoing refinement of the Medallion Protocolsome text
  • Define and implement the data structures, algorithms, and communication rules for digital credential issuance, sharing, and verification
  • Ensure the protocol remains compatible with evolving industry standards and best practices
  • Work closely with the CEO to align protocol development with overall business strategy

• System Architecture and Technical Performance: Oversee and design the implementation of the underlying architecture for the Medallion ecosystemsome text
  • Develop scalable solutions to handle increasing volumes of achievements and users
  • Implement mechanisms for seamless integration with various client systems
  • Collaborate with the product development team to translate feature requirements into technical specifications
  • Lead and mentor the protocol engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation

• Security, Integrity and Documentation: Develop and implement robust security measures to maintain the tamper-proof nature of the technologysome text

  • Implement solutions to ensure the authenticity and privacy of digital credentials
  • Develop educational materials to help team members and clients understand the protocol
  • Contribute to whitepapers and technical presentations for the wider community

• Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the protocol's performancesome text
  • Implement efficient data management strategies to handle large-scale credential issuance and verification
  • Develop solutions for low-latency operations across global networks
  • Develop strategies to incentivize adoption of the Medallion Protocol
  • Design mechanisms to drive engagement and retention for both issuers and holders
  • Create tools and frameworks that enable third-party developers to build on the Medallion ecosystem

• Technical Expertise:
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing secure, scalable distributed systems and various protocols.
  • Minimum of 5 years in software development, with at least 2 years focused on Web3 technologies.
  • Proven track record in developing smart contracts and DApps on major blockchains using languages like Solidity and Rust.
  • Deep technical understanding of Web3, including experience with layer 1 and layer 2 protocols (building, participating, researching).
  • Hands-on experience with consensus algorithms, distributed computing challenges, and related solutions.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient code and contribute to maintaining technical documentation.
  • Experience in writing research, analyses, articles, or blogs on blockchain projects or protocols.

• Leadership & Communication:
  • Proven ability to manage and lead an engineering team, guiding them through key milestones and aligning their work with the product vision.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, make trade-off decisions, and prioritize ruthlessly to achieve goals.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Able to work cross functionally with marketing, design and creative teams.
  • Strong management skills

  • Ability to develop proofs of concept from high-level designs, even with incomplete details.
  • Comfortable navigating through ambiguity and clarifying unknowns, with a quick ability to learn and grasp complex engineering concepts.
  • Comfortable diving into multiple parts of a technology stack and quickly understanding its intricacies.
